About Fit Kids America
Since we opened our first class in 2005 in Carlsbad, CA we have continued to grow exponentially, now offering over 250 classes per week in the Southern California area.
Fit Kids America strives to fight childhood obesity by inspiring kids at a young age to find the love of fitness. By incorporating movement at a young age, chances are kids will stay active into adulthood. Fit Kids America offers after-school programs that are convenient for busy families and fun for kids to participate in with all of their schoolmates.
Our own experience of more than 30 years coupled with our staff’s extensive background in sports and physical education have made the perfect combination for providing a structured class that not only teaches the fundamentals of a sport but also helps build self esteem and self confidence, which is a vital part of a healthy life. Let us introduce your child to something they will have for the rest of their lives.
President and Founder
Joan Missett-Gambill started Fit Kids America, a non-profit organization, in 2005 as a way to expand her existing Junior Jazzercise Franchise. As childhood obesity continues to climb, she began to see more clearly the fitness gap between what schools were able to provide and what our kids really need. As a result, we began creating new programs that would provide better fitness options for kids and their parents. We now have structured programs in most all sports and dance and engage with more than 10,000 kids a year!
President and Co-Founder
Hal Gambill is the president and co-founder of Fit Kids America. After seeing physical education being put on the back burner at many of the local schools Hal wanted to bring back the fitness time that growing kids need. Hal also brings extensive sales and marketing experience from being a general manager at the North County Times for 20+ years and from years of coaching youth leagues as well as his own kids. His love for kids and sports makes Hal one of the most passionate people you will ever meet.
